  When you choose to interact with us by entering our office, using our website or apps, our products or services, by participating in our user database or interacting with our Support Team, you acknowledge that your personal information will be treated as described in this privacy policy.

   

  YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  In this policy, your "personal information" refers to the same term in the Privacy Act 1993 ("Privacy Act"). In general this includes any information that can be used to personally identify you. This may include (but is not limited to) your name, age, gender, address, contact details (including phone numbers and email addresses) images of you, your biometric data and financial information, including your payment information. If the information we collect personally identifies you, or you are reasonably identified by it, then the information is considered personal information.

   

  HOW WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  We do this in a variety of ways, including but not limited to, when you:

  • Purchase our products or use our services
  • Access and use our websites or apps, including your registration details and information relating to your use of our websites and the services, such as the content you access (for example, the products you have viewed, or the search queries you input)
  • Interact with our team through phone or email communication
  • Enter our office where we have security video recordings
  • When you return goods to us for service
  • Interact with us on social media

   

  If you open an account with us you agree that we may also collect personal information from third parties, including:

  • Third party companies such as credit reporting agencies, other retailers (for the purpose of preventing criminal behaviour), law enforcement agencies, and other government entities
  • Contractors and business partners
  • Suppliers or manufacturers

   

  THIRD PARTY APPS ON OUR PRODUCTS

  As some of our products are Android TV based and have the option for you to load third party apps (apps that we do not control or produce) of your choice, your personal information may be required in order to register or log in to use these apps. Dish TV does not collect your personal information from these apps. The owner of each app will provide you with their privacy policy, usually within the app or on their website. It is your responsibility to read the supplied privacy policy and decide whether you choose to share your personal information with that app owner.

   

  IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  If you choose not to provide us with the personal information described within this policy, then we may not be able to provide you with the product, content, information or services you have requested, either to our normal high standard or at all. We also may not be able to tailor our content, website and communications for your preferences.

   

  USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  The primary purpose for which we collect information about you is to enable us to perform our business activities and to provide the best possible customer service.

   

  Your personal information will be held at 25 McKee Street, Hamilton. It may also be held for us in a backup database that is stored elsewhere.

   

  Your personal information will not be shared, sold, rented or disclosed other than as described within this policy or as permitted by the Privacy Act.

   

  WEBSITES

  A "cookie" is a small text file that is placed on a device when it is browsing a website to enable the host of the website to store information about use of the website by that device.  While we use cookies to improve our customers' on-line experience, if you do not wish to allow cookies then you can choose to disable cookies (for all sites) from within your browser settings.

   

  Dish TV does not collect personal information on our websites unless you choose to give it to us. There are a few places on our websites where you can choose to give us personal information, such as emailing an enquiry to us, registering as an online user, or subscribing to our newsletter.

   

  If you are a registered user our administrators can see all the personal information that you supply, except for your password. Your password is private to you. If you forget your password, you can reset it by using the tool provided.

   

  We do not collect identifiable information about you if you only browse our website.

   

  DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  We may disclose your personal information:

  • For the operation of our websites or our business
  • For the specific purpose of fulfilling requests made by you
  • To provide products, content and services to you
  • Where we are permitted to under the Privacy Act

  Where we engage third parties to undertake services, we may provide those third parties with some of your information if it is required to fulfil those services and only to the extent required to fulfil those services. Examples of such third party providers may include, but not limited to:

  • Service providers such as web hosting providers, IT systems administrators, couriers, payment processors, data entry service providers, electronic network administrators, debt collectors, and professional advisers such as accountants, solicitors, business advisors and consultants
  • Software providers such as customer relationship management and accounting software
  • Existing or potential suppliers, business partners or joint venture entities or partners
  • Specific third parties authorised by you to receive information held by us

   

  We require any third party to protect your information against unauthorised use or disclosure.

   

  In addition to the above, we release personal information only when it is permitted under the Privacy Act or required by law for legal compliance and law enforcement (including to government agencies with statutory law enforcement responsibilities, and/or to your Internet Service Provider or network administrator); to facilitate court proceedings; enforce or apply our terms and conditions; or protect our or your rights, property, or safety and the rights, property and safety of our users, or others, and where we reasonably believe that disclosure is necessary. Government agencies with statutory roles enabling them to request data from us include the Police, Inland Revenue and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

   

  PROTECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  We will take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information that we hold from misuse, loss, or unauthorised access or modification.

   

  RIGHT TO ACCESS OR CORRECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  You may request access to any personal information we hold about you at any time by contacting us. Your request will be processed in accordance with the Privacy Act. You will need to verify your identity. We may not be able to grant access to some information if granting such access would interfere with the privacy of others. We will endeavour to supply you with reasons for a refusal.

   

  We may charge a reasonable fee for making your personal information available to you or providing you with copies of it.

   

  CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

  We may change our privacy policy from time to time. Updated versions of this policy will be posted on our websites. This policy was last updated in December 2019.

Modern Slavery Policy

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.

Dish TV Technologies is committed to limiting the risk of modern slavery occurring within its own business, infiltrating its supply chains or through any other business relationship.

Dish TV Technologies expects all who have, or seek to have, a business relationship with the Company to familiarise themselves with this policy and to act in a way that is consistent with its core values.

1. Policy Statement

• We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in our business dealings and relationships and are committed to preventing modern slavery in our own business and to helping prevent modern slavery in our supply chains.
• We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery. In line with the Modern Slavery Act 2018, we are outlining the steps we take to tackle modern slavery. We expect the same high standards from all our employees and suppliers.
• This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, contractors, consultants and any other third-party representative.
• Definitions of Criminal Activities – All forms of criminal activities as defined in the Act, are prohibited at Dish TV Technologies. These include:
  1. Slavery: where ownership is exercised over an individual
  2. Servitude: involves the obligation to provide service imposed by coercion
  3. Forced and compulsory labour: all work or service, not voluntarily performed, which is obtained from an individual under the threat of force or penalty
  4. Human trafficking: involves arranging or facilitating the travel of another with a view to exploiting them
  5. Child labour: involves the employment of children that is exploitative or is likely to be hazardous to or interfere with a child’s education, health (including mental health), physical wellbeing or social development

2. Responsibility

• The Directors have overall responsibility for ensuring this policy complies with the Company’s legal and ethical obligations and that all those under our control comply with it.
• The Executive Management team have primary and day-to-day responsibility for implementing this policy, monitoring its use and effectiveness, dealing with any queries regarding the policy and auditing internal procedures.
• Management at all levels are responsible for ensuring those reporting to them understand and comply with this policy.

3. Compliance

• The prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains is the responsibility of all those working for us or under our control. Any activity that might lead to, or suggest, a breach of this policy must be avoided.
• Where appropriate, the Company will engage directly with suppliers in respect of this policy in order to gain a proper understanding of the measures they have in place to ensure that modern slavery is not occurring within their own businesses.
• Employees must notify a manager (or a main point of contact at Dish TV Technologies, if a supplier) as soon as possible if it is believed or suspected that a breach of this policy has occurred or may occur in the future.
• All parties are encouraged to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any parts of our business, or supply chains or any supplier tier, at the earliest possible stage.
• If unsure about whether a particular act, the treatment of workers more generally, or their working conditions within any tier of our supply chain constitute any of the various forms of modern slavery, employees should raise this with a manager (or your main point of contact at Dish TV Technologies, if a supplier).
• Dish TV Technologies aims to encourage openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under this policy, even if they turn out to be mistaken. The Company is committed to ensuring no one suffers any detrimental treatment by Dish TV Technologies as a result of reporting in good faith their suspicion that modern slavery of whatever form is or may be taking place in any part of our own business or in any of our supply chains. Detrimental treatment includes dismissal, disciplinary action, threats or other unfavourable treatment connected with raising a concern.
• If any parties believe that they have suffered any such treatment, they should inform the Chief Executive Officer immediately. If the matter is not remedied, employees should raise it formally through the Company’s grievance procedure.

4. Communication and Awareness

• Guidance on this policy forms part of the induction process for all employees.
• We are committed to continuous improvement so that our processes and interventions remain effective in preventing and remediating modern slavery.

5. Breaches of this Policy Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, which could result in dismissal for misconduct or gross misconduct. We may terminate our relationship with other individuals and organisations working for us or on our behalf (including suppliers) if they breach this policy.
